While I can’t be prouder of where I am today, I have to admit, the journey here was not the easiest. I got my first development role in 2003 and I knew that I had found my calling. I was obsessed with the power of technology, and my workspace was one that encouraged creativity, passion and knowledge. Unfortunately, no later than a year, I was diagnosed with severe arthritis, which had me unable to walk for four years.

Although it was a difficult time for me, I was immensely grateful for the wonderful family and friends I was surrounded with, supporting me through my lows and celebrating me on my highs. Ultimately, I got my replacement surgery, finally enabling me to set foot outside – and absolutely ready to take over the world.

I took advantage of every opportunity that came my way, working hard to find my way back in the software industry and make my mark. I worked with Holiday Genie (UK), SoCom (Germany) and W.Site Technology (Netherlands) and honed my skills in groundbreaking software technologies – paving my way to becoming a complete Microsoft Azure Architect.

I welcomed challenges, looking at them as a means to learning new skills and techniques. I learned how to recruit and manage software teams, spearheaded software planning, designed backend, and executed successful software projects, from design to delivery.

My experience, although not the easiest, is one that I will cherish forever. It made me who I am and helped me reach where I am, and that is something that is irreplaceable. In fact, it is my experience that has instilled within me a unique passion: to encourage and enable more women to build a career in this industry.

I’m dedicated to leveraging my knowledge, experience and network to do all I can to support women, and help them believe in themselves and what they’re capable of. We live in a world where women empowerment is, fortunately, the new future. I, for one, will do everything I can to make this future a reality.
